Savannah View Proposal

This past October Dave and I stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I never get to stay on property so this was a great staycation. While we were there, we took some time to explore the resort. I had been here many times, however, I had never truly explored the resort. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge has plenty of great places for the perfect proposal.

Open window in back of lobby

Suspended above the lobby is a bridge that connects the two sides of the Disney Vacation Club floor. To go here you do not have to be a Disney Vacation Club member. Imagine proposing to you love above this beautiful lobby. Better yet, imagine proposing during Christmas time when the lobby is decorated with trees and lights! Because of the bridge’s location, it tends to be vacant. It can provide a nice place for the two of you to escape to.

Different view of the bridge

There a plenty of beautiful places throughout the resort. Some of these places bring you nose to nose with animals. Dave and I stopped to watch the animal keepers feed birds.

You can also find plenty of quite places to watch the animals. Dave and I found these zebras in the most random spot.

Zebra zone in back of the resort

If a public place is not your style, consider getting a Savannah View room. Imagine waking up in the morning and opening you patio to the sights of giraffes and zebras roaming around. Imagine the sun rising and setting a beautiful scene as you propose on the balcony of your room. Also, let the front desk know you are proposing! They can send up some yummy Zebra Domes or perhaps a bottle of champagne.

The morning after Dave proposed he went down to the desk to get Just Engaged buttons and the AKL staff gave him flowers to bring back to me. These beautiful red roses were the perfect end to a wonderful day!

On the Boardwalk Proposal

Hello! Happy March! I hope that you are having an amazing start to your month and that it has been full of love and excitement. I am sorry that I have taken a break from posting proposal ideas, but I wanted to make sure that this blog didn’t get too boring. Also, with everything that has been going on, I haven’t really had time to go out and get some amazing pictures! Today is your lucky day because I have got a wonderful idea to share with you!

This week’s Pixie Dusted Proposal happens to be at one of my favorite places in all of Walt Disney World: The Boardwalk Hotel/Resort. Located as a part of the EPCOT resort circle, the Boardwalk, features a wonderful array of views and scenes perfect for a proposal. I love this spot because you can have a variety of proposal types here. The Boardwalk is vintage enough that you could proposal in a style that fits your loves personality. You can also make you proposal homey and quiet or shout it out to world, or at least the lagoon.

The Boardwalk gives off a very nostalgic vibe. If you grew up along the Jersey shore, you will feel right at home here. They ever have surreys that you can rent! How perfect would it be for you to go out on an early morning surrey ride along the boardwalk and then you ask your love to marry you? Or perhaps you could take a surrey for an afternoon ride, stop to have a picnic along the water and the perfect moment presents itself. There are many options for you if you want to give a vintage or nostalgic feel to your proposal. And why not make it fun?

Tiny little surrey with the fringe on the top....

There are also many restaurants along the Boardwalk in which you could possibly have a nice dinner and propose. Cat Cora’s Kouzzina is one of my favorite places to eat, with an open view of the kitchen and wonderful Greek food. They are sure to celebrate your proposal by having the whole restaurant give you a big “Opa!” For the sports nut, there is the ESPN Club where they have a TVs broadcasting many different sporting events at one time. For the beer lover, Big River Brewery is a fairly newer microbrewery at the Boardwalk. We can’t forget the Flying Fish Cafe specializing in lovely seafood, seashore type eats.

If you are looking to have an entertaining evening and maybe propose in a big way, why not do it while enjoying amazing music at Jellyrolls? Jellyrolls is a dueling piano bar that only plays the requests of their patrons and is sure to make your special night enjoyable! It is my favorite place on the Boardwalk. The music is amazing and the piano players and sure to make you laugh and impress you with their talent. Maybe if you are lucky, Scotty will play Rainbow Connection for you!

For amazing music and a good time!

I leave you with my idea of a perfect proposal. If I was to be proposed to at the Boardwalk Hotel/Resort, this is where I would want it to happen. The best part about this place is that if you are planning on having a small wedding or maybe a vow renewal, you can always come back to this place and set something up with Disney Weddings.

The place is a small pavilion at the end of the Boardwalk on the way to EPCOT. It looks out over the water and have some views of the Boardwalk and a lighthouse. You can catch some of the most amazing sunsets from this pavilion and the place itself offers some kind of peace that just resonates with me. I hope that you feel the same when you visit it. It would be a great spot to propose especially if your significant other has expressed getting married at that spot already. Why not bring them there at sunset, look them in the eye, and say, ” I love you and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you. Let’s start right here in this very spot.” Or something like that čÖé Unfortunately I do not have a picture of this place that this very moment, but you can bet as soon as I get one I’ll post it. For now, let your imagination wander, or go hunting for the place. You’ll know which one I am talking about as soon as you see it!

That’s all for now! I’ll have another Pixie Dusted Proposal spot up here soon for you guys. Until then…. Keep Dreaming Wonderful Dreams!

The Unexpected Proposal

Since Valentine’s day is right around the corner, I have decided to write about the unexpected proposal. These happen a lot and tend to be even better than the planed proposal. I find that when I look at proposal stories that have to do with Disney, the unexpected proposal tends to happen more often than the planed proposal. So why go through all the planning?

Proposals are supposed to be special. Every guy who has planned a proposal has had this perfect day or time in their mind. Girls, we do it too. We may imagine how our perfect proposal would be and then we would hope that our best girlfriends tell our future fiance about it. In a perfect world, perfect proposals would go exactly as planned and would be amazing. But we don’t live in a perfect world and we all know that proposals rarely go exactly as planned. But sometimes, it’s the unexpected moment that makes a proposal perfect.

The most important part of a proposal is making sure that you propose at the right time. You want to make sure it is the right moment, one that is worth remembering. Don’t worry guys, there’s no need to stress. If you plan a day or evening full of things both of you love to do, the right moment will just happen.

At Disney, you might be meeting your love’s favorite princess and that princess begins to talk about you being her prince and her hoping that you live happily ever after. That would be a perfect moment to just say, “well actually, *enter name here* I was wondering if you would let be the prince charming in your happily ever after.” Ok that is cheesy, well I think it’s cute, but you get the point. You may plan an evening at the beach and be taking a walk at sunset and she makes a comment about how beautiful it is and then your perfect moment arrives. I guess my point is: the perfect moment is usually isn’t planned.

As a treat…check out this video of a proposal that happened after a couple ran into Push the talking trash can on the Tomorrowland Bridge in Walt Disney World. It’s pretty awesome

Wishing for a proposal

This weeks Pixie Dust Proposal has everything to do with wishing wells! Wishing wells are a princess staple. Cinderella had one and Snow White had one as well. So why not plan a proposal at a wishing well that has some beautiful views?

Walt Disney World resort is home to the breathtaking Cinderella’s Castle. Hidden along the castle ramps you will find a quiet little alcove that is home to Cinderella’s wishing well. This happens to be a popular proposal spot simply because of the view of Cinderella’s castle that it provides. At night while the castle is giving us a “kiss goodnight” and changing a multitude of beautiufl colors, the view from the wishing well is amazing. It provides a sweet backdrop for the perfect proposal.

During the day, the wishing well is usually a quick stop for passersby. They may pause briefly for a picture or to make a wish in the well. All the change that is found in the well goes to help children’s dreams come true. I’m not 100% where the money goes but I know that Disney partners heavily with Give Kids the World and Make-A-Wish, both organizations make children’s wishes come true.

The wishing well would provide a great place to quietly pull your love aside and propose. You could ask them to close their eyes and make a wish, when they turn around you are down on one knee. You could ask someone to take your picture, pretend you dropped your wishing coin and end up on one knee. Or you could just simply pop the question as the castle changes colors before your eyes. There are many ways to propose at Cinderella’s wishing well. You could even get Disney’s Guest Relations involved and make it extra special.

Very Merry Proposal

One of my favorite things to do at Christmastime here at Walt Disney World is go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The Magic Kingdom is lit with Christmas light and filled with Christmas music. You can have all the hot chocolate and sugar cookies you like and it’s magical. More magical than a normal day at the Magic Kingdom. It even snows on Main Street U.S.A.

If you want to propose during Christmas, this is the place to do it. There is a show that light’s Cinderella’s Castle, amazing fireworks that light up the sky to some of our favorite Christmas tunes, and a special parade featuring Santa Claus himself! But be aware that these Christmas Parties end the week before Christmas.

Check out these photos of some of the beautiful sites you can propose.

A Glowing Proposal

Hello PDP readers! I’m sorry for the delay. The week of Thanksgiving was extremely busy at work and the time after has been extremely stressful with lots of things going on at work and at home and getting ready to move again.

We are in full Christmas swing now that we have passed the Thanksgiving mark and it’s time to get in a few posts about Christmastime proposals at Walt Disney World.

Our first proposal idea comes from Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the only place where you can find the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights. The Streets of America is lined with hundreds of thousands of Christmas lights that dance to Christmas songs every 15-30 minutes. Not only are these lights amazing to see, but Disney keeps the tradition of adding something new to the display every year. Even though it’s warm in Florida, it does not stop Disney from producing snow and making you feel like you are in a winter wonderland.

The light displays provide a number of a great places to propose. You could propose in the middle of Streets of America, under a canopy of red lights, by a giant light switch, or right under the Spectacle of Dancing Lights sign. You could toast your proposal with a warming cup of hot chocolate or an ice cold alcoholic beverage sold in the Studios.

Here are some of my favorite pictures of the lights:

An Elegant Affair

If you are in love with a foodie you may want to consider putting some money away to propose during an amazing culinary adventure.

If you enjoy great food, even better desert, a classy atmosphere, and a quiet dining experience then you might want to save up as well.

Today’s engagement location at Walt Disney World is Victoria and Albert’s inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant is one of Disney’s most prestigious dining experiences. They have a very strict dress code:

Men:  Must wear a dinner jacket, dress pants, and dress shoes.

Women: Must wear a dress with stockings or a pant suit.

However, they provide the most elegant dinner experience you will ever have as a diner. I felt like a princess the first, and only time, I ate there.

The dining room

The Menu

Victoria and Albert’s is a Prix Fixe menu with lots of options. You will not be disappointed in what you get. If you are vegetarian, NO PROBLEM! They have a separate menu just for you! They also have separate menus for the Chef’s Table and Queen Victoria’s Room. ┬áThe menus change on a seasonal basis and are based off of whatever Executive Chef Scott Hunnel finds fresh from the market.

The Experience

Aside from the culinary delights that Chef Hunnel cooks up for you, this experience pans out to be extremely sweet. The lighting is perfect to set a quiet mood and the soft sounds of a live harp float around you. You will be entertained by two servers who take turns bringing out and explaining your course selections. If you even look like you have to get up, someone will come out and pull your chair out for you. The service is top notch. It provides the perfect location and atmosphere to ask the love of your life to marry you.

The Price

The menus are Prix Fixe and are around $200 (prices subject to change). If you want a wine pairing then it costs about $70 more. Everything is per person. On top of great food, you receive personalized menus that you can take home with you, and each lady takes home a red rose.

So what do you think? Is your engagement worth an Elegant Affair?
