On the Boardwalk Proposal

Hello! Happy March! I hope that you are having an amazing start to your month and that it has been full of love and excitement. I am sorry that I have taken a break from posting proposal ideas, but I wanted to make sure that this blog didn’t get too boring. Also, with everything that has been going on, I haven’t really had time to go out and get some amazing pictures! Today is your lucky day because I have got a wonderful idea to share with you!

This week’s Pixie Dusted Proposal happens to be at one of my favorite places in all of Walt Disney World: The Boardwalk Hotel/Resort. Located as a part of the EPCOT resort circle, the Boardwalk, features a wonderful array of views and scenes perfect for a proposal. I love this spot because you can have a variety of proposal types here. The Boardwalk is vintage enough that you could proposal in a style that fits your loves personality. You can also make you proposal homey and quiet or shout it out to world, or at least the lagoon.

The Boardwalk gives off a very nostalgic vibe. If you grew up along the Jersey shore, you will feel right at home here. They ever have surreys that you can rent! How perfect would it be for you to go out on an early morning surrey ride along the boardwalk and then you ask your love to marry you? Or perhaps you could take a surrey for an afternoon ride, stop to have a picnic along the water and the perfect moment presents itself. There are many options for you if you want to give a vintage or nostalgic feel to your proposal. And why not make it fun?

Tiny little surrey with the fringe on the top....

There are also many restaurants along the Boardwalk in which you could possibly have a nice dinner and propose. Cat Cora’s Kouzzina is one of my favorite places to eat, with an open view of the kitchen and wonderful Greek food. They are sure to celebrate your proposal by having the whole restaurant give you a big “Opa!” For the sports nut, there is the ESPN Club where they have a TVs broadcasting many different sporting events at one time. For the beer lover, Big River Brewery is a fairly newer microbrewery at the Boardwalk. We can’t forget the Flying Fish Cafe specializing in lovely seafood, seashore type eats.

If you are looking to have an entertaining evening and maybe propose in a big way, why not do it while enjoying amazing music at Jellyrolls? Jellyrolls is a dueling piano bar that only plays the requests of their patrons and is sure to make your special night enjoyable! It is my favorite place on the Boardwalk. The music is amazing and the piano players and sure to make you laugh and impress you with their talent. Maybe if you are lucky, Scotty will play Rainbow Connection for you!

For amazing music and a good time!

I leave you with my idea of a perfect proposal. If I was to be proposed to at the Boardwalk Hotel/Resort, this is where I would want it to happen. The best part about this place is that if you are planning on having a small wedding or maybe a vow renewal, you can always come back to this place and set something up with Disney Weddings.

The place is a small pavilion at the end of the Boardwalk on the way to EPCOT. It looks out over the water and have some views of the Boardwalk and a lighthouse. You can catch some of the most amazing sunsets from this pavilion and the place itself offers some kind of peace that just resonates with me. I hope that you feel the same when you visit it. It would be a great spot to propose especially if your significant other has expressed getting married at that spot already. Why not bring them there at sunset, look them in the eye, and say, ” I love you and I would love to spend the rest of my life with you. Let’s start right here in this very spot.” Or something like that ūüôā Unfortunately I do not have a picture of this place that this very moment, but you can bet as soon as I get one I’ll post it. For now, let your imagination wander, or go hunting for the place. You’ll know which one I am talking about as soon as you see it!

That’s all for now! I’ll have another Pixie Dusted Proposal spot up here soon for you guys. Until then…. Keep Dreaming Wonderful Dreams!

Wishing for a proposal

This weeks Pixie Dust Proposal has everything to do with wishing wells! Wishing wells are a princess staple. Cinderella had one and Snow White had one as well. So why not plan a proposal at a wishing well that has some beautiful views?

Walt Disney World resort is home to the breathtaking Cinderella’s Castle. Hidden along the castle ramps you will find a quiet little alcove that is home to Cinderella’s wishing well. This happens to be a popular proposal spot simply because of the view of Cinderella’s castle that it provides. At night while the castle is giving us a “kiss goodnight” and changing a multitude of beautiufl colors, the view from the wishing well is amazing. It provides a sweet backdrop for the perfect proposal.

During the day, the wishing well is usually a quick stop for passersby. They may pause briefly for a picture or to make a wish in the well. All the change that is found in the well goes to help children’s dreams come true. I’m not 100% where the money goes but I know that Disney partners heavily with Give Kids the World and Make-A-Wish, both organizations make children’s wishes come true.

The wishing well would provide a great place to quietly pull your love aside and propose. You could ask them to close their eyes and make a wish, when they turn around you are down on one knee. You could ask someone to take your picture, pretend you dropped your wishing coin and end up on one knee. Or you could just simply pop the question as the castle changes colors before your eyes. There are many ways to propose at Cinderella’s wishing well. You could even get Disney’s Guest Relations involved and make it extra special.

Very Merry Proposal

One of my favorite things to do at Christmastime here at Walt Disney World is go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. The Magic Kingdom is lit with Christmas light and filled with Christmas music. You can have all the hot chocolate and sugar cookies you like and it’s magical. More magical than a normal day at the Magic Kingdom. It even snows on Main Street U.S.A.

If you want to propose during Christmas, this is the place to do it. There is a show that light’s Cinderella’s Castle, amazing fireworks that light up the sky to some of our favorite Christmas tunes, and a special parade featuring Santa Claus himself! But be aware that these Christmas Parties end the week before Christmas.

Check out these photos of some of the beautiful sites you can propose.

An Elegant Affair

If you are in love with a foodie you may want to consider putting some money away to propose during an amazing culinary adventure.

If you enjoy great food, even better desert, a classy atmosphere, and a quiet dining experience then you might want to save up as well.

Today’s engagement location at Walt Disney World is Victoria and Albert’s inside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.

Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant is one of Disney’s most prestigious dining experiences. They have a very strict dress code:

Men:  Must wear a dinner jacket, dress pants, and dress shoes.

Women: Must wear a dress with stockings or a pant suit.

However, they provide the most elegant dinner experience you will ever have as a diner. I felt like a princess the first, and only time, I ate there.

The dining room

The Menu

Victoria and Albert’s is a Prix Fixe menu with lots of options. You will not be disappointed in what you get. If you are vegetarian, NO PROBLEM! They have a separate menu just for you! They also have separate menus for the Chef’s Table and Queen Victoria’s Room. ¬†The menus change on a seasonal basis and are based off of whatever Executive Chef Scott Hunnel finds fresh from the market.

The Experience

Aside from the culinary delights that Chef Hunnel cooks up for you, this experience pans out to be extremely sweet. The lighting is perfect to set a quiet mood and the soft sounds of a live harp float around you. You will be entertained by two servers who take turns bringing out and explaining your course selections. If you even look like you have to get up, someone will come out and pull your chair out for you. The service is top notch. It provides the perfect location and atmosphere to ask the love of your life to marry you.

The Price

The menus are Prix Fixe and are around $200 (prices subject to change). If you want a wine pairing then it costs about $70 more. Everything is per person. On top of great food, you receive personalized menus that you can take home with you, and each lady takes home a red rose.

So what do you think? Is your engagement worth an Elegant Affair?

Freeze Frame: Casie Photographics

Our very first Freeze Frame is all about Orlando-based Casie Photographics!

I have been a fan of Casie Shimansky’s photography since I stumbled across her Up Engagement Photo post. Once I got my blog up and running, I got in contact with Casie and decided that it was time to showcase her work on the blog. Casie and I met up for a little bit of coffee and to chat about life and photography. So for all of you recently engaged folks out there, listen up. This is Casie Photographics

Name: Casie Photographics

Owner: Casie Shimansky

The beautiful Casie

Years in the Biz: About 3 solid years.

PDP: What is your favorite part about shooting weddings?

RBP:¬†Weddings are always different, and as much planning as any one person can do for this incredible moment¬†— whether it be the bride or any of her amazing vendors — I love that it really all just unfolds as it was meant to.¬† You always get this incredible sense of unity at a wedding — the families that I’ve had the pleasure of working with and getting to know are always SO connected and just absolutely adore that these two people have, amongst all odds, found one another.¬† The interactions I have with everyone¬†and usually feeling as if I am somehow adopted into these families is always very exciting to me as well.

PDP: How do you draw inspiration for a shoot?

RBP:¬†What am I¬†not inspired by is¬†really how I feel about photography and life.¬† I am literally the girl who will take pictures of red pears at Publix because they caught my eye (true story! I have the picture on my iPhone!)¬† So, really…everything from Starbucks cups and kids laughing to floral arrangements and a groom seeing his bride for the first time —¬†everything is inspiring to me.¬† I especially love when colors, lighting, or a particular moment really just grabs me and won’t allow me to put the camera down until I know I have it captured.

PDP: During a shoot do you let the couples take control?

RBP:¬†I do make suggestions;¬†maybe where or how a person sits or where their hands might look best.¬† That’s usually a big “worry” for people being photographed for some reason, “What do I do with my hands?”¬† During engagement sessions I allow (and prefer) the couple to choose¬†a location that’s really special to them.¬† Of course, there are the “Orland Hot Spots” for photo sessions — but at that point it really is¬†about the couple and¬†their personalities and the love shared between them.¬† Those moments, from engagement shoot to wedding day, have nothing to do with me — so I really prefer the couples to interact as they do naturally.¬† Often times their¬†favorite photo will be the one¬†where they had no idea I was even taking¬†their picture — they were just enjoying each other. ¬†I always tell them before the shoot that if they want to laugh¬†– then laugh, if they want to kiss –¬†then kiss, and if he wants to pick her up and twirl her around in the middle of the park?¬† Well, hey — that’s quite allright too!¬† ūüôā

PDP: How far are you willing to travel for a shoot?

RBP:¬†My bags are always packed!¬† I really enjoy traveling and getting to experience and explore new places & I love that I have brides, grooms and families all over this country who just couldn’t see their wedding day or special events¬†without me.¬† There is something so insanely incredible about that.¬† This year alone, my friends will tell you, that I’ve literally been everywhere from New York to California and just about every inch of The Sunshine State.¬† They say that “home is where the heart is”…and my heart is always¬†behind that camera of mine.

PDP: What is your favorite part of a session?

RBP:¬†My favorite part about any session is when I just KNOW, right after the click of the camera, that I absolutely just took my favorite image of the day.¬† It’s¬†that one image that you just KNOW a couple will hang on their wall and cherish for the rest of their lives…and that you almost don’t even¬†have to look at it¬†on the LCD¬†screen because your heart just KNOWS — This is¬†THE ONE.¬† All the other images are equally as spectacular, but there is always one that just grabs me almost immediately as a favorite even before it gets into editing.

My favorite wedding day moment is easily the second that the new Mr. & Mrs. get announced, for the first time, to their friends and family.¬† There’s just this unique excitement in the air — it’s this entirely brand new beginning for this couple and their families.¬† It is, to me, always one of those moments where you can’t help but smile because THAT is what life is all about.

Because I love Casie and her photography skills so much, I have decided to add some photos. Casie graciously allowed me to display a few photos of her’s below. Enjoy!

Sunset Point

The other day my boyfriend David and I awoke very early to make our 7:45 reservations at Kona Cafe for breakfast. Kona is located inside Disneys Polynesian Resort, just one of the three resorts that sit along the Seven Seas Lagoon. We were sleepy-eyed but excited. This would be a first for both of us and we found it extremely wonderful. We left Kona happily stuffed on breakfast and decided to walk around the resort. I had brought my camera incase I was struck by inspiration and you all are in luck because I was.

There are many beautiful locations in this resort to spend a special moment with the one you love, but there are two particular spots that stuck out to me. The first is along the beach and/or dock. At 8:30 Am the beach was empty and extremely peaceful. We enjoyed our quiet walk after breakfast and the stunning view of both Disney’s Wedding Pavilion and Cinderella’s Castle across the lagoon. We also found out that the beach is one of the most popular places to watch the fireworks at the end of the night.

The Beach at Disney's Polynesian

The view from the beach

The second location is a place called Sunset Point. This is a beautiful hilled location that looks straight across the lagoon at Cinderella’s Castle. You could watch the sun rise there, but it is an even better location to watch the sun set. There is a little path between some palm trees and it would provide the perfect place to share an intimate moment with your love. It also has a great view of the castle to watch the fireworks from.

Sunset Point with view of Cinderella's Castle

The Polynesian Resort provides a sweet tropical getaway in the midst of a crazy world. Stepping inside you find tropical tress and waterfalls. You find some music, huge windows that let in warm sunlight, and a fun relaxing atmosphere. It’s a tropical destination without having to go to the tropics. It may just be a Disney resort, but it’s an escape. I hope that you can find yourself as inspired there as I was.

A Proposal 15 floors up!

Looking to take your proposal to a new height? Want it to be “above the rest?” Then perhaps proposing at Disney’s California Grill is just for you.

Located at the top of Walt Disney World’s Contemporary Resort, The California Grill is an elegant contemporary restaurant. It combines wonderful food with a quiet and relaxed atmosphere, things you may want when planning the perfect proposals. The menu covers a nice variety of tastes that is sure to please anyone’s taste buds.

The California Grill

When planning the perfect proposal at the California Grill, be sure to make your reservation time close to the time the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show is scheduled to go off. Just outside of the restaurant, on the very top of the Contemporary Resort, is an observation deck which provides a wonderful view of the Magic Kingdom. The best part about the Cal Grill is that they will actually give you the chance to go and watch the fireworks if you aren’t seated on the Magic Kingdom side. If fireworks and dinner interests you, you make want to consider booking your reservations about 3-6 months in advance to be sure you are able to get a seat!

The Observation Deck at Disney's California Grill

If you are looking to plan a sweet ending to a delightful evening, you may want to tell the Cal Grill just what you are up to. Then, after you have eaten your delicious meal and seen some beautiful fireworks, you can enjoy a delectable dessert that only the California Grill could whip up. For just about all of their special occasions, the California Grill adds a slice of chocolate cake with a personalized chocolate “card”. They also have a selection of worthwhile desserts to try if you aren’t really a chocolate fan.

Personalized chocolate cake

I hope that I could inspire you to consider the California Grill when planning your perfect proposal. This will be a dinner that neither of you would ever forget. It would be the perfect bit of pixie dust to an already amazing Disney vacation!
